Jerk Ribs by Kelis – off her upcoming album, “Food” – is the kind of song I wouldn’t be surprised to hear in a late night music club. The backing bass line plays off the bongo drums to create a rhythm that sticks with you after the song ends. Kelis sings about her early life in Harlem and how her father showed her how to find music in everyday life. This isn’t the kind of music I normally tune in to, but it’s a song worth listening to.
The song is available to download for free from Rolling Stone’s website.
Food is expected to be released later this year.
